Responsibilities

As an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) you will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Managing and coordinating development of Information Assurance Systems information processing standards.
  • Working with Certification and Accreditation Validators to evaluate the impact of proposed standards and procedures on the accomplishment of agency goals and objectives.
  • Managing computer systems security for the Agency.
  • Implementing standards operating procedures, software, and controls to ensure appropriate levels of security.
  • Establishing implementation and oversight plans to ensure compliance with requirements.

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Experience must be reflected in your resume.

Specialized experience required for this position is: To be creditable, specialized experience must encompass knowledge of the principles,concepts and methodologies of computer systems security requirements in support of the organization's certification work. Familiarity of current automated information systems security developments as they related to hardware, systems software, telecommunications and systems design and development techniques to provide advice and guidance on issues such as alternative security packages, acquisition and use. Providing technical guidance and assistance to individuals working on the Accreditation and Certification Program involving state-of-the-art computer systems, including telecommunications. Developing new methods, techniques and procedures.

Employees Serviced by DLA: Civilian Federal employees who receive human resources servicing through the Defense Logistics Agency DO NOT need to submit supporting documentation if applying through merit promotion. Information Assurance Certification Requirement: This position requires an Information
Assurance (IA) certification in accordance with DoD Directive 8570.1 and DoD Manual
8570.1-M. The incumbent must possess an appropriate and current IA certification, acquire an appropriate IA certification within six (6) months of appointment to this position, and maintain the currency of the appropriate IA certification throughout the tenure of the appointment. The incumbent must sign a Statement of Understanding regarding the IA certification requirement and maintaining the appropriate certification is a condition of employment.
