Responsibilities

The incumbent is responsible for fundamentally transforming the unattended retail, vending and service market areas through innovative thinking, the use of technology, and creating a great customer experience aboard Marine Corps installations. Responsible for start-up and ongoing operations of micro markets and other unattended businesses, such as car washes, lockers, and vending machines, across Marine Corps installations. Develops and implements operations plan including site set up, standards, logistics, and verification. Responsible for focusing on individual market trends to generate sales growth, ensure constant appropriate merchandising and creative ideas for business development in existing markets. The incumbent reports directly to the Branch Head, Field Operations.

Develops procedures and standards for site operations while ensuring brand standards are followed. Establishes documented procedures for ordering processes, database maintenance, order fulfillment, sales and operational metrics, records and payment processing, corporate documents and records, contract maintenance and review, inventory evaluation, analysis, reconciliation and shrink, video monitoring and investigation, logistics, delivery, warehouse systems, suppliers, pricing and terms negotiations, health and safety, sanitation, equipment, fixturing, brand standards, graphics and signing, merchandising, and payroll metrics.

Facilitates, communicates and tracks MCX micro-market, vending and unattended services installation and opening processes. Facilitates projects or changes to ensure deadlines are met, identifies and communicates as necessary issues such as project delays, installation delays, service problems, pricing or rate issues, and other problems for awareness. Discusses project status, completion, success metrics, issues, customer and team satisfaction during internal meetings (scheduled and ad hoc). Communicates expectations and discusses alternative options or solutions for underperforming or unprofitable businesses.

Plans, organizes work, and manages internal procedures and resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies. Prepares internal office financial plans and related records and reports, and exercises authority on approved budget. Monitors programs on a regular basis, and initiates corrective action to ensure support of operating programs of MCCS. Manages new property resources and may provide direction on facility renovations and improvements. Develops long range plans in conjunction with internal operating directives. Must be alert to substance abuse and take appropriate action. Effectively supports the Marine Corps Equal Employment Opportunity and Sexual Harassment policies, and ensures compliance with fire, safety, and other environmental issues and programs. Maintains and enforces security of funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse.

Provides customer service to Micro Market partners on all market related items with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. Ability to travel throughout the enterprise up to 25% of the time.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a related field is highly desired. Four years experience managing a vending or foodservice operation. Must have experience managing micro-markets. Thorough knowledge of business practices, economic principles and ability to analyze trends/developments and make improvements in operating programs through innovative marketing, personnel management and retailing. Must have strong leadership skills with ability to influence without control. Expert negotiation skills required. Must have demonstrated financial acumen experience. Must have the ability to prioritize, multi-task and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced environment. Must be a self-starter with ability to work independently and interact with team members when necessary. Computer literate and experience in Microsoft Office tools with working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and intermediate level skills in Excel. Knowledgeable in all the latest vending technologies such as cashless micro-markets, Lightspeed Automation pre-kitting and smart phone integration, etc. Must have Strong customer service orientation, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong problem solving skills.
