Summary

About the Position: 4 East is a 16 bed Medical/Surgical Floor which specializes in GI surgeries, GYN surgeries and patients with acute alcohol withdrawal symptoms, measured by the Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assess for Alcohol (CIWA) tool. The individual for this position will work 6 - 12 hour shifts and 1 - 8 hour shift in a 2 week period (either 0645-1915 or 1845-0715).

Responsibilities

  • Lead Registered Nurse, including sign-off on assignments/tasks of LPNs, Corpsmen, Medics, newly assigned staff, etc.
  • Perform professional nursing care duties, to include delegating assignments as applicable, completing full nursing assessments, etc.
  • Collaborate with licensed independent providers to make changes to nursing plans according to patient needs.
  • Establish criteria and evaluate /assess effectiveness of patient treatment.
  • Serve as unit shift-team leader for group of patients or an entire unit as assigned.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Nurse (Clinical):

Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.

Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Experience: In addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field; OR at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level); performing duties such as: independently providing direct professional nursing care for acute care/critical ill patients within a medical treatment facility, i.e. medical/surgical unit, Acute Care, Critical Care, etc. completing comprehensive nursing assessments; telemetry monitoring; documenting in electronic medical records AND possession of a diploma, bachelor's degree or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program.

Education
