Responsibilities

  • You will install, modify, and repair utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems, and water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler systems, showers, appliances and specialized equipment.
  • You will from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to lay out the routing, placement, slant, slope, fall, and proper operation of systems and equipment.
  • You will install, modify and repair systems by locating and tapping main lines, setting up system routes, placing and cutting route openings, placing hangers for proper level and slope.
  • You will determine and install valves, traps, and unions needed for proper operation of systems.
  • You will install equipment like that described above by completing the routing and placement of systems leading to the equipment, and seating, hooking up, and testing the equipment.
  • You are responsible for the layout, and completion of installations, modifications, and repairs with little or no advice.

Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision: 1) Repairing existing utility systems and equipment; 2) Determining, placing, and installing proper lines, hangers, valves, traps, and unions where needed; and 3) Determining the equipment, tools, and parts needed to perform repair work.

May be required to serve on-call duty on a rotational basis. When on-call, incumbent is required to carry a duty cell phone and duty pager and must remain available to respond onsite to after-hour emergencies within two hours.

Incumbent must be able to wear and use all required personal protective equipment (PPE) tomeet the requirements of the duties being performed.
