You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (SYSANALYSIS) in the G-6 Information Technology Division of TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND.

Responsibilities

  • You will serve as a SharePoint Systems Developer providing multi-site support in the specialty area of web-based application programming, analysis, and problem resolution.
  • You will provide daily system administrator support as needed for all web services environments (development, test, and production).
  • You will analyze and evaluate operational requirements for integration into the Virtual Collaboration Environment (VCE) portal.
  • You will review, interpret, and execute Department of Defense Marine Corps, and Training and Education Command policies and guidelines for data and system security.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II certificate within 6 months of employment, to meet the requirements of the DOD Manual 8570.01.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station.


Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. You must have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies:
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency must include: Reviewing my own information technology-related work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency must include: Diagnose application software problems in response to customer reported incidents.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency must include: Brief senior leaders on new database technologies and architectures.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency must include: Investigate existing information technology systems to identify potential issues.
In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying a variety of systems analysis concepts and techniques that consists of managing a test, development, and production SharePoint environment for IT service support.
Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.

Education

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.
OR
Successful completion of 3 full years (54 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
OR
A combination of experience and education that equates to one year of experience. Percentage of education plus percentage of experience must equal 100%.

The work is sedentary. Some work may require walking and standing in conjunction with limited travel and to attendance at meetings and conferences away from the immediate work site. Some employees may carry light items, such as papers, books, or small parts. The work does not require any special physical effort, but may occasionally involve crawling into around floor-mounted VCE equipment. There are no special hearing or visual requirements other than normal office work and troubleshooting of equipment.

The work is performed in a typical non-smoking office setting. Special safety precautions are not required. Call back and emergency overtime are not regular requirements of this position. The position is not considered as an Essential Personnel billet during office recall or Continuity of Operations Plan emergencies.
