Duties

Summary

This position is in the Facilities Services Department, Facilities Management Division (AFM), of the National Gallery of Art. The primary purpose of this position is to provide Planning and Estimating (P&E) services and prepares design documents necessary for the maintenance, repair and evaluation of Gallery facilities and building systems and services, including service maintenance contracts for trash removal, carpet cleaning, and carpet replacement programs.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will:
  • Coordinate the submission of construction drawings and specifications for assigned projects.
  • Coordinates assigned projects through design, construction, final acceptance, and warranty phases, including attending design meetings and performing field inspections. Inspects spaces on a regular basis for cleanliness and develops corrective actions.
  • Prepares statements of work for new construction, renovation, repair, and demolition projects involving various facilities and space attributes.
  • Incumbent performs the full range of supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the grade GS-301-12 ,

Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service, leading a facilities management function or sub-function.

QUALIFIED REQUIREMENT :
  • Knowledge of the facilities management function.
  • Skill in managing contracts.
  • Ability to supervise employees and contract staff


Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level.

Physical Requirements: Requires walking, lifting, carrying small articles such as tools and drawings, stooping, and bending and standing. Requires use of ladders, scaffolds and platforms. Requires work in cramped and isolated locations that are difficult to access. Requires work inside and outside. Requires use of protective clothing and equipment.
