Summary

You will serve as a Training Specialist at the GG-09 grade level performing basic tasks regarding training for law enforcement officers and investigators in the disciplines of enforcement/investigative training techniques, arrest, search and seizure, firearms, emergency operations, first responder, crime prevention, and community policing.

Responsibilities

  • You will monitor and evaluate external force protection skills training programs and courses throughout the community for applicability to the public safety requirements
  • You will assist with maintaining a records management program for the organization.
  • You will assist with developing, updating, and revising course material and lesson plans for use by personnel employed as police officers.
  • You will perform complex research, analysis, and evaluation of all force protection programs and processes.
  • You will assist with determining Plans of Action and Milestones for implementation and integration of upgrades, applications, and installation of new training curricula into current programs.
  • You will assist in the management of the commands small arms weapons training program in coordination with the assigned Command Weapons Office for all security force personnel.
  • You will assist with managing the commands ammunition and explosives and their uses, interactions, dangers, production, handling, storage and disposal.
  • You will assist with providing relevant training to police officers/investigators within the organization.

  • Must pass annual CPR and first aid certification course.
  • Must be mentally stable, have color vision, be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must maintain a license to operate a motor vehicle and pass the emergency vehicles operators course.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • Must pass all annual sustainment and use of force training.
  • Must be physically able and skilled in handling of small arms to qualify with pistol, shotgun, and rifle annually or as required.
  • Must be able to perform as a Firearms Instructor and maintain Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA and E) certification.
  • Must pass pre-hire and annual medical, evaluation requirements as directed by the command.


Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS/GG-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as:
  • Monitoring students course progress and maintaining necessary training records.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of law enforcement training programs.
  • Assisting with researching training materials to provide effective law enforcement course content.
OR

Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.

OR

Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.

OR

OR

Combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.

Upon appointment or within permitted scheduling must graduate from Anti-Terrorism Training Supervisor (AT TRASUP) course.

Duties include prolonged standing, walking, and light lifting.

Shift work may be required.
