Summary

About the Position: Serves as an Assistant Executive Officer and Staff Actions Control Officer within a field operating agency (FOA) of the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS), G-3/5/7, Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA). Serves as Assistant Executive Officer DCS G-3/5/7, providing guidance and direction of the organizations mission, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains active coordination with the offices of other senior Army officials and appropriate offices of the Army Secretariat to remain current concerning developing policies and/or staff procedures.
  • Monitors requirements initiated by G-3/5/7, Chief of Staff of the Army (CSA), Vice Chief of Staff or the Army (VCSA), the SECARMY, and other senior members of the Secretariat.
  • Reviews, prioritizes, tasks and monitors all staff actions for the Directorate.
  • Routinely provides advice to the senior military leadership on relevant matters internal to the Executive Office.
  • Advises senior leadership on special skills required of newly assigned personnel.
  • Mentors, provides advice, counsel, and instruction on work and administrative matters for subordinates.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience serving in HQ Department of the Army; experience working on policies and staffing procedures that affect an entire organization; experience in military command structure, mission, programs and organizational relationships; and managing, implementing, and training using Task Management Tools. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
