You will serve as a Financial Technician in the Financial Management Division, Code 335120 of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY.

Responsibilities

  • You will compare reports, transactions, or authorizations against source documents to determine their acceptability for further processing.
  • You will reconcile discrepancies to ensure financial data entries are current and correct.
  • You will review receipts, contracts, and other records to determine accuracy and completeness.
  • You will serve as an education liaison for a purchase card program.
  • You will certify the accuracy of financial reports (e.g., invoices, disbursements, collection transactions) accuracy.
  • You will maintain fiscal accounts in compliance with instructions, procedures, or regulations related to procurement or travel.
  • You will maintain spreadsheets to track financial information.
  • You will sort incoming documents to log financial data.
  • You will compute authorized allowances for contractual documents.
  • You will compute reimbursement claims for employees.
  • You will review arithmetical computations to determine the accuracy of financial records.
  • You will Use arithmetic in financial operations to verify calculations.

  • This is a Financial Management Level 01 certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.


Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-01/04 grade level or NC-01 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate most or all of the following duties: (1) Reviewing and reconciling financial documents for correct or missing information; (2) Maintaining paper end electronic files and records of financial documents; (3) Mathematically verifying and computing contract figures to ensure accuracy; (4) Researching to find appropriate documents to complete daily operations using accounting and financial information systems, (5) Working withing a job order cost accounting system with knowledge of all aspects of cost accounting.
