Responsibilities

  • As an Attorney-Adviser (CR) at the GS-905-9, you will be part of the Office of Equal Opportunity, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. You will perform the following duties:
  • Conducts preliminary investigations of and attempts to resolve allegations raised in initial counseling contacts.
  • Conducts investigatory work on cases, including the selection of witnesses and evaluation of prospective documentary and testimonial evidence.
  • Negotiates settlements of internal discrimination complaints from aggrieved employees and /or applicants for employment.
  • Researches legal questions which arise, and, as requested, provide legal opinions.
  • Interviews complainants, alleged discriminating officials and witnesses and obtains affidavits from each witness interviewed.
  • Performs legal research pertinent to cases. Prepares legally sufficient Final Agency Decisions, and assist in the development of affirmative action plans in the Federal System.

Qualifications

For the GS-9:You must have earned a professional law degree (J.D. or LL.B.) from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, and be an active member of the BAR.

In addition, EEO/Civil Rights experience preferred.

You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

      • Military Reserve or National Guard Technician Special Disability Retirement Annuity under 5 U.S.C. 8337(h) or 8456: Certification of special disability retirement annuity from a military department or National Guard Bureau AND Separation SF-50 of the last position held.
