This position is located in United States Coast Guard (USCG), C4IT Service Center, Telecommunications and Information Systems Command (TISCOM), Networks Product Line in Alexandria, VA.

Responsibilities

In this position you will manage, oversee and provide the service of the USCG's perimeter connection and security information technology (IT) communications systems that connect directly to the Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN) and to other Mission Partners and the commercial internet.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
  • Ensuring delivery of Wide Area Network and perimeter security services to USCG end users allowing interoperability with DoD and other Missions Partners.
  • Developing, reviewing, revising and executing budgets for IT communications systems, services and circuits for the Coast Guard.
  • Developing management directives, contingency plans and standards for operation, ensuring that programs are effectively managed and coordinated.
  • Providing comprehensive reports on capabilities and metrics that clearly articulate service delivery levels and overall service health.
  • Ensuring that all necessary program management work is performed in a manner that will provide superior operations and deployment services.

Qualifications

GS-13. You qualify for the GS-13 level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Examples of specialized experience related to this position include: applying advanced network principles, concepts, methods, standards, managing, overseeing and providing service of the perimeter connection and security IT communications.

In addition to the qualification requirements above, applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four BASIC COMPETENCIES listed below.

4. PROBLEM SOLVING - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
