The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 600 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, child care, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel.

Responsibilities

The incumbent serves as a Logistics & Distribution Specialist and safely and carefully delivers/picks-up/transports House furniture, furnishings, office equipment, and other related items.

The incumbent must follow and adhere to all applicable workplace policies, practices, and procedures, as well as exercise sound judgment and discretion. The incumbent must also drive a truck and operate heavy equipment as required.

The incumbents pay grade and compensation level are determined based on applicable professional experience, job knowledge, past performance, and assigned level of responsibility, in comparison to local market rates of pay for equivalent criteria within the applicable discipline.

This position does not have day-to-day supervisory/managerial responsibilities.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

1) Safely and carefully delivers/picks-up/transports House furniture, furnishings, office equipment, general merchandise, and other related items to and/or from all House offices (i.e. Leadership, Member, Committee, House support offices, etc), as well as the House shops, storerooms, warehouses, and loading docks.

2) Ensure that all House property is handled carefully in order to prevent damage and report any/all discrepancies/problems/mishaps to the Supervisor LDG immediately.

3) Match receivables with purchase orders and accurately enters inventory record data into the appropriate automated database.

4) Verify that inventory levels are correct by conducting periodic physical reviews and reconciling counts with existing inventory records

5) As required, and with the appropriate approval/authorization, assist with disposal of excess furniture, office equipment, and other House items/property through the General Services Administration (GSA) or as otherwise required. Verify that all computer hard drives are sanitized in accordance with approved procedures.

6) Adhere to daily vehicle/truck/equipment use schedules and immediately report any discrepancies to the Supervisor, LDG or other senior management. Maintain LDG daily equipment logs as required.

7) Conduct all duties in accordance with OSHA codes and safety regulations.

8) Communicate effectively with customers to resolve critical issues that impede providing required services.

9) Assist other LDG personnel in applying internal practices and procedures to ensure performance is timely, responsive, and consistent with customer needs. Assist in training new employees as required.

10) Report work progress, results, and other issue to management as required. Determine possible solutions to operational problems that arise in LDG and present recommendations to management for consideration.

11) Perform data entry, manipulate, and/or retrieve information and data from automated systems as required.

12) Perform miscellaneous clerical and administrative support as needed.

13) Perform other official duties as assigned.

A. Be a U.S. citizen;
B. Be lawfully admitted for permanent residence and seeking citizenship as outlined in 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)(B);
C. Be (i) admitted as a refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157 or granted asylum under 8 U.S.C. § 1158 and (ii) have filed a declaration of intention to become a lawful permanent resident and then a citizen when eligible; or
D. Owe allegiance to the U.S. (i.e., qualify as a non-citizen U.S. national under federal law).

Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactorily completing a criminal history records check (or other applicable security clearance) and a pre-employment drug-test (pre-identified position only).

Qualifications

Ability to understand and apply workplace policies, practices, rules and established procedures, as well as exercise sound judgment and discretion.

Ability to drive a box truck and operate heavy equipment (e.g. box truck, forklift, pallet jack, reach fork, etc.).

Ability to work in a collaborative manner with others in a team environment and demonstrate professional customer service skills.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing as well as establish effective working relationships with applicable House management and staff.
