You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the NAV SURFACE WAR CENTER, MD of CARDEROCK DIV NS.

Responsibilities

• You will coordinate and execute experimental testing within a test facility and record data from a variety of analog and digital sensors to interpret data.
• You will plan, prepare, and execute structural tests of full scale and model scale ships, submarines, and structural components.
• You will plan, prepare, and execute sensor installation and data acquisition efforts.
• You will support the planning, preparation, and execution of improvements to Department sensor and data acquisition systems.
• You will perform calibration of load cells, pressure gages, extensometers, potentiometers, and digital sensors
• You will interpret control and electrical schematics as well as diagnose and repair control systems, circuit boards, power sources, signal generators, sensors, and data acquisition systems.
• You will implement control and data acquisition systems for complex test setups used to control hydraulic actuators and record data from a variety of analog and digital sensors.
• You will work as an integral part of a team and communicate effectively both orally and in writing with the shops, other technicians and project managers.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

NT-4 Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade or pay band NT-3 (GS-9/10) in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector planning, preparing, and executing the installation of sensors for testing and assisting in the analysis of test data.

NT-3 Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade or pay band NT-2 (GS-5/8) in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing engineer technician support in the operation and maintenance of electrical, electronic or data acquisition systems.

Education

NT-04 Level: There is NO substitution of EDUCATION for experience at the NT-04 Level.

NT-03 Level: Substitution of EDUCATION for experience: Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements for NT-03, only if it is directly related to the work of the position - OR - a combination of experience and graduate level education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
