Summary

The Executive Support Facility is responsible for the storage, care, and preservation of the White House Museum Collection, and the White House utilitarian supplies and materials. The ESF provides transportation support to the various operations of the Executive Residence and the park.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Motor Vehicle Operators assigned to the Executive Support Facility (4-6 personnel). Assigns and instructs subordinates in the various day-to-day activities such as assess situations, make decisions, schedule priorities, and supervise subordinates in an efficient and production operation. Coordinates all work to ensure maintenance of highest standards possible.
  • Incumbent will inspect progress of work to insure instructions are being carried out and work is of an acceptable standard and is completed within the given time frame in accordance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Operates one or more motor vehicles including platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, trailers, specialty pumping equipment, and trash removal trucks which typically have an approximate GVWR up to 33,000 pounds.
  • Performs operator maintenance on all vehicles operated (e.g., monitoring fluid levels, replacing air filters, and interior lights, checking tire pressure and hose connections, and washing the vehicle).
  • Handles museum collection objects; moving them in the collection storage facility, transporting them in and around DC metropolitan area, securing them to prevent damage.

  • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
  • Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
  • You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
  • You must possess and maintain a current Class A (or higher) Commercial Driver's License.
  • You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
  • You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
  • You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
  • If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
  • You may be required to travel overnight away from home. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
  • You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.

    Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. All travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the sole responsibility of the selected employee.

    Physical Demands: The workforce performs a variety of functions. They receive, warehouse, and transport goods. They handle, store, and transport museum objects. They perform maintenance tasks associated with a motor vehicle fleet.

    Working Conditions: The workforce is based out of a single location. However, during the duty day, those MVOs work in a variety of locations throughout the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and rarely the Eastern Seaboard. They will work autonomously, in small groups, or as part of the whole team depending on the requirement.
