The position will manage a Senior Accountant and report into the Chief Operating Officer. Job Summary The Director of Finance is responsible for leading and managing a comprehensive array of financial services. As part of the management team, the DOF must have strong leadership, technology, analytical and communication skills. * S/he will ensure the smooth and efficient implementation of the organization's financial plan and will meet regularly with the CEO and COO to report on the organization's financial position. * S/he will present key/substantive issues to the CEO for his/her final decision. * S/he will assist the CEO in determining and achieving organization's financial objectives. * S/he will review on an ongoing basis the programs financial status, and develop and recommend new financial strategies as needs emerge. * S/he will be responsible for all day-to-day operational activities pertaining to licensure, finance, and contracts, or as directed by the COO. * S/he is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the financial aspects of the annual budget in conjunction with the COO and CEO. * S/he is responsible for ensuring that the organization is in compliance with all federal, state, funding, and city regulations, certifications, and licensing requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Financial Management and Oversight * Working with the COO, the DOF will manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of financial and business planning, including: * Direct and monitor all financial activity of the organization. * Prepare and maintain budgets and forecasting models. * Train all departments on budget preparation and reporting models. * Manage company cash flow. * Prepare company financial statements monthly and annually, as needed * Analyze and interpret financial data and present the information in frequent reports and presentations to board of directors. * Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures. * Plan, organize and coordinate the year-end closing process with auditors. * Ensure successful completion of the company's tax filings. * Establish internal work processes for all departments. (including accounting and billing) * Plan, budget and authorize expenditures. * Oversee insurance and risk management. * full-time, train and retain competent finance staff. * Possess a clear understanding of and adhere to current laws and regulations. * Ensure the Organization is in compliance with all federal, state, funding and city regulations, certifications and licensing requirements. Program Management Support * Promote regular and ongoing opportunities for all staff to give feedback on financial operations. * Manage day-to-day financial operations effectively, provide data for managers to run their programs within their annual budgets, and report accurately to the COO on progress made and challenges encountered. * Work with the project managers to ensure program financial reporting facilitates their revenue goals, and provides information to keep expenses in line with the annual budget. * Provide performance management procedures for the accounting department that measures and evaluates progress against goals for the organization. Requirements Requirements: * Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and internal control procedures * Understands and uses accounting software efficiently. Intacct is a must. Experience with an association database, specifically, iMIS is a huge plus. * Knowledge and understanding of financial reporting is required. * Attention to detail and extreme organization skills are essential. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
