Consisting of more than 230 organizations from New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia, the Coalition advocates for clean rivers and streams in all communities across the watershed. The Coalition is widely recognized as a highly effective regional and national model for successful collaborative impact. The Coalition is guided by a Steering Committee made up of local, regional and national organizations that reflect the priorities of the Coalition. The National Wildlife Federation serves as co-chair of the Coalition Steering Committee and provides fiscal and staffing support. Role of the Coalition Director: The Director manages the day-to-day activities of the Choose Clean Water Coalition and is accountable for implementing programmatic and fundraising strategies to achieve the outcomes articulated in its strategic plan. The Director provides policy oversight, program and campaign management, fundraising leadership and budget oversight, and serves as a key resource for media outreach. In addition, the Director collaborates with Coalition members, partners and other organizations within the watershed on field, policy, and communications activities. The Director manages Coalition staff and contractors. The Coalition Director reports to National Wildlife Federation's Mid-Atlantic Regional Executive Director, based in Annapolis, Maryland, under the direction of the Coalition's Steering Committee. Areas of Responsibility: * Program Leadership - Ensures implementation of the Coalition's strategic plan; works with the Coalition's Steering Committee, staff, and members to develop annual priorities and work plans; serves as key spokesperson for the Coalition. * Staff Management - Supervises the Coalition's Communications Director, Field Manager, Federal Affairs contractor, and other contractors/consultants as required; approves annual work plans and conducts staff performance reviews; fosters a positive, productive, and collaborative working environment allowing staff to function as a highly integrated and effective team. * Fundraising - Collaborates with Steering Committee to identify and implement innovative and sustainable ways to raise funds to support Coalition goals; conducts donor stewardship and outreach and prepares funding proposals and reports. * Budget Oversight - With operations and finance staff, develops and manages annual Coalition budget (approx. $750,000); reports on Coalition's financial health to Steering Committee and other key stakeholders; implements budget controls to meet financial targets. * Coalition Effectiveness - Coordinates Coalition activities throughout the Chesapeake Bay region; works with Coalition Steering Committee, state lead organizations, and other partners to foster robust involvement in Chesapeake Bay restoration issues; integrates all aspects of Coalition campaigns (regional, national, political, policy); guides the growth of the Coalition's membership and member engagement; oversees the planning and implementation of annual conference and Capitol Hill Lobby Day; sets agendas for, facilitates and supports Coalition meetings and committees.
