SUMMARY The Senior Staff Accountant is a member of the Global Business Travel Association Finance department. This position requires 5 - 7 years accounting experience with excellent communication skills. Responsibilities will include multi-entity financial statement preparation for international reporting units. This includes multi-currency general ledger maintenance, cash management, investments, financial reporting and special projects. CASH MANAGEMENT * Reconcile multiple bank accounts with varying international currencies, researching variances and making adjusting entries as needed (including exchange gains and losses). * Monitor cash flow and provided projected needs on a monthly and annual basis. INVESTMENTS * Reconcile investment accounts for each entity monthly, making income, unrealized gain and accrued interest adjusting entries as needed as prescribed in FASB 124. GENERAL ACCOUNTING * Familiarity with o FASB NO 117 "Financial Statements for Non-Profit Organizations" o FASB NO 116 "Accounting for Contributions" o FASB NO 124 "Accounting for Certain Investments Held by Non-Profits" * Prepare and reconcile other various month-end balance sheet accounts in accordance with assignments in the Accounting Calendar. * Prepare journal entries for month-end close including recognizing prepaids, recurring entries, reclassifications, and accruals. * Reconcile inter-company accounts and prepare corresponding adjustments and invoices, including translating balances from international currency to USD. * Serve as a resource to the accounting team and other staff. * Support closing and reconciliation of USA entity financials, as needed. * Provide suggestions for techniques to improve efficiencies as related to accounting policy and procedure. * Apply the financial policies and procedures of the company and bring inconsistencies and problems to the attention of management * Communicate with other company personnel and contacts outside the company with limited supervision * Collect data and perform research on the details of transactions. * Perform special projects as assigned FINANCIAL REPORTING * Ensure proper recording and reporting of revenue and expenses, including use of appropriate exchange rates. * Coordinate preparation of draft financial statements in accordance with the schedule in the accounting calendar. * Generate, review, analyze and communicate financial data that reflects actual financial performance against approved budgets. * Compile and prepare entries to general ledger accounts, making adjustments where needed for currency exchange variances. * Use judgment and professional skills in determining appropriate procedures for preparation of accounting records, research of transactions and reporting * Document accounting transactions, using procedures defined by management. * Prepare monthly financial statements and other reports to be used by management for analyzing financial information * Budget to actual variance analysis and provide explanations for material variances. * Attend monthly calls with regional directors and explain financials * Assist with analysis of accounting transactions COMPLIANCE * Assist in the annual financial audit for the associations including completing and reviewing year-end schedules and corresponding adjusting journal entries. * Assist the Manager, Finance and outside preparers in the completion of the annual Federal form 990 and corresponding required annual filings for the international entities * Assist in the preparations or prepare various international and domestic tax filings. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS * Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance, OR * Minimum 5-7 years general accounting experience non-profit experience is a plus! * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Strong computer skills in integrated financial applications, windows-based spreadsheets and word processing required. * As workload demands (eg, audit, month-end close), ability to work extended hours. * Ability to work in a high transaction volume environment; excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills; strong attention to detail; ability to work independently, and in a team environment; ability to meet deadlines. * Fluent in Spanish, a plus * Foreign currency transaction experience strongly preferred. Great Plains, AMS relational database, international accounting and not-for-profit experience are all strongly preferred.
