Company Background: Our client provides Public Safety, Air Traffic Control, Conferencing Control, and Command and Control Voice & Data Switching products for 911 Centers, the Federal Aviation Administration, NASA, the US DoD, and International Military and Civil customers.Job Duties Summary: The successful candidate will be a member of the Field Engineering team providing technical support and field services in integrating, testing, modifying, and repair for the Voice Switching and Conferencing product line. We are seeking disciplined, effective Field Engineers with a progressive track record of excellence, using strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities. Technologies include networking, digital and analog interfacing, Internet Protocol, microprocessor and analog components, and proprietary and commercial software components.Major Functional Areas and Description of Duties:Conduct technical analysis of product implementations, modifications, and enhancements to products in accordance with specific customer specifications and implementationsConduct site surveys at customer locations to identify requirements for production and installationPrepare deliverable documentation describing site requirements and system configuration.Install, service, and complete basic repairs of equipment at customer sitesIntegrate mission-critical systems components, follow test procedures and perform system debug. Interface with Hardware and Software development teams to remedy problem areasOrganize and provide detailed product and service training as necessarySolve complex field issues in coordination with the development teamInterface with customers.Provide required reports to management staff, showing: customer, type of equipment involved, status, and field resolution of complex service assignments Qualifications:At least 5 years' experience with mission-critical applications. Minimum AA in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science disciplines or equivalent telecommunications experience with systems hardware and software.Experience in installing, integrating and maintaining end user telecommunications equipmentExperience in performance measurement of systems hardware and software.Knowledge of/experience with networking security and authentication methods and tools.Ability to quickly learn technical skills from documentation and personnel training.Ability to work concurrently on multiple tasks and projectsAbility to work independently and communicate progress/problems to appropriate personnel effectively.Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of technical and non-technical management and staff as well as customer management and staff.Understanding of schematic and engineering drawingsKnowledge of basic PC hardware and softwareSystem troubleshooting skillsSpecial Notations or Conditions of Employment:Willing to travel up to 80% of time to customer sites for on-site surveys and installations.
