The Director of State Government Relations is responsible for leading and implementing multi-state engagement for the company as we lead the transformation of our economy into a more decentralized, decarbonized, and digitalized future. Successful candidate will identify opportunities for legislative and regulatory approaches to advance the company's mission around energy and environment and execute campaigns around transition to clean energy and a smarter, more decentralized grid, digital solutions to decarbonization, and a changing utility landscape. The position will also watch for regulatory issues in states that can affect the company's bottom line and require compliance on environmental and other fronts. The position will manage association and consultant activities in key states and work independently to help transform the electrical sector to a clean and smarter energy landscape. Most of the activity will likely be focused on the West and the Northeastern regions, with some engagement around modernization of the grid in the Midwest. The Director will report to the Vice President (VP) for Government Relations and will work closely with the VP, the strategy team, and the subject matter experts on specific projects. The expectation is for the successful candidate to bring policy solutions to the business development teams' mission of digital transformation in energy and environment. The successful candidate must be a team player and be ready to take on multiple projects. Responsibilities: Position Schneider Electric North America with key utilities, NGOs, state legislatures and associations as a thought leader around grid modernization, decentralization and the new energy landscape Serve as the vanguard for legislation and regulation that can affect the company's bottom line, particularly in the environmental space Execute advocacy activities in states Manage state consultants and state associations Coordinate internal business leaders and experts around certain topics and campaigns Bridge business development and policy opportunities Job Specifications: Bachelor's Degree Robust experience in policy and the energy space (can be clean energy, efficiency, utility) Strong understanding of the utility sector and the changing landscape Excellent communication skills Proven ability to convene and work with multiple stakeholders Proven ability to forecast and anticipate developments on multiple issues Ability to travel within the US We seek out and reward people for being straightforward, open, passionate, effective and challenging the status quo.
