The Fairfax, VA office of Dewberry is currently seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer with a BS in Civil Engineering. Primary responsibilities will be traffic engineering design development and studies related to traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, work zone traffic control, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and traffic operational analyses. Candidate will be part of Dewberry's growing transportation engineering practice involved in a wide variety of projects in the mid-Atlantic region. Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of traffic engineering experience, including experience on VDOT and/or design-build projects. Applicants must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to monitor schedule and budgets, ability to work in groups and lead a group of junior traffic engineers.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include design and plans production for various traffic related tasks as noted above and delegation of work to other traffic engineering staff. The Candidate will also prepare design and cost estimates, meet with clients, and assist in proposal development, as needed.

Required Skills & Required Experience

• BS in Civil Engineering.
• PE license required
• Minimum 7 years of experience in traffic engineering
• VDOT and/or design-build experience preferred
• MicroStation experience required
• Proficiency with analysis software (Synchro, VISSIM, SIDRA) desirable
• Working knowledge of VDOT standards preferred
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Project Management and leadership skills preferred
