Freddie Mac has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Technical Lead, Automation within the Platform Security Technology group to work on cutting edge technologies to lead, design and implement automation and DevSecOps.

Your Work Falls Into Three Primary Categories:

  • Create automation design templates and implement the design using scripting and automation best practices.
  • Setup and maintain centralized configuration for security tools to streamline various operational duties.
  • Support security best practices in AWS including Cloud Formation Templates.
  • Coordinate with the larger InfoSec team to support automation and best practices as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative technical solutions and strategies.
  • Learn and adapt new tools and technologies and implement them for enterprise adoption in accordance with Freddie Mac operational and security standards.

  • As the principal engineer of the team, nurturing junior engineers is a requirement.
  • Support the retention and growth of existing talent.
  • Utilize strong communication to keep leadership informed and aware.
  • Be a role model and technical mentor to the junior and midlevel engineers, work alongside of highly collaborative, open minded, technology savvy and dedicated team members.

  • Problem solving with repeatable processes.
  • Develop proper documentation of automated processes to support and enable collaboration.
  • Ensure processes reflect our technical obligations of system uptime and performance.
  • Presentation of metrics and other attributes to convey accomplishments.


  • Typically has more than 8 years of related experience
  • Good working knowledge of Artifactory, TeamForge GitHub, Ansible/Chef/Puppet, BladeLogic or other tools supporting similar features of configuration and artifact management.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as BASH, Python, Golang, etc.
  • Experience with Splunk's search syntax and how to extract data with a Splunk query.
  • Experience with AWS best practices and policies
  • Experience with Kubernetes & Docker is a big plus
  • Experience with Sysdig/Falco and similar container security solutions is a big plus
  • Knowledge of HashiCorp Vault and automating secrets distribution
  • Experience communicating status to leadership and other relevant stakeholders
