The Whalen Company has an opening for a Product Development Engineer at its Easton, Maryland location. Whalen has been an innovative leader for over 55 years in the commercial heating and air conditioning industry manufacturing fan coils and water source heat pumps for hotels, motels, condominiums, apartments, senior living facilities, office buildings, schools, dormitories, etc. The Product Development Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of product design and development of HVAC equipment from concept to production launch. Projects will include: new product designs, model extensions, redesigns of existing product, warranty reductions, product cost improvements, and alternate supplier qualifications. Development will include designing refrigeration and air flow systems, providing direction for prototype builds and performance testing, and managing the design of sheet metal and tubing CAD models and their drawings, specifications, and releases to production. The successful candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience as well as a knowledge and understanding of HVAC system operation principles including: the refrigeration cycle, electrical controls, air flow, expansion control devices, heat exchangers, and psychrometric calculations.
