Overview Peraton is seeking Mid and Senior Level Systems Safety Engineers to support our Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) customer in Dahlgren, VA. These will be multiple positions for a pending program award. As a System Safety Engineer, you will be part of a team providing risk assessments for cutting-edge shipboard weapon systems such as the electromagnetic railgun and directed energy weapons, and in-service weapon related systems. Your work will involve solving complex challenges by applying system safety engineering and project management skills for the development, test and evaluation, analysis, systems engineering, and integration of Naval combat and weapon systems. Your tasking would include studies, analyses and investigations to determine the potential for mishap or programmatic safety risk for the program throughout all lifecycle phases. Responsibilities What you will do Develop, refine and update System Safety Program Plans for software intensive systems Apply systems engineering processes to evaluate weapon system and subsystems and report identified safety risks Conduct hazard analysis and risk assessments, and recommend resolution of safety issues Prepare and coordinate system safety presentations for review boards such as the Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board Qualifications You would be a great fit if You have a (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering, Scientific, or other technical discipline You have 5+ (Mid Level) to 10+ (Senior Level) years of professional or operational experience in systems engineering for DoD weapon system programs; without a degree, 11+ to 16+ years of US Naval operational experience at the E7 level or higher is required. You have 2+ (Mid Level) to 5+ (Senior Level) years of qualified experience as a System Safety Engineer in DoD system engineering processes, performing tasks focused on the development of system safety analysis by identifying, documenting, and tracking resolutions of safety anomalies. Your experience includes coordinating, developing, and executing, comprehensive technical data packages (TDP's), Safety Assessment Reports, Preliminary Hazard List, Preliminary Hazard Analysis, Subsystem Hazard Analysis, System Hazard Analysis, Operating and Support Hazard Analysis, Health Hazard Assessment, System Requirement Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis. You have experience in the development and coordination of presentations to support the Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board and its Technical Panels, Laser Safety Review Board, and the Department of Defense and the Department of Navy Insensitive Munitions Reviews. You have a current Secret security clearance and can maintain the clearance.
