The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager. STScI is the science operations center for several NASA missions, including the Hubble Space Telescope, the most famous space observatory in history. We also lead the science and mission operations for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), planned to launch in 2021 and will perform parts of the science operations for the Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope (WFIRST), in formulation for launch in the mid-2020s.

Role & Responsibilities
The Space Telescope Science Institute is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to work with fast-growing JWST Mission Office (JWSTMO). As the JWST Quality Assurance Manager (QA Manager) you will provide independent oversight and support to the mission and ensure that all practices outlined in the Quality Assurance Plan are executed. You will utilize a quality activities schedule, checklists and templates to lead all QA tasks.
You will lead process and product audits, participate in design, code and test reviews, sit in on verification and validation and end-to-end testing, provide audit assessments through the generation of audit reports including non-conformance reporting and tracking, recommend and help with the implementation of corrective actions, and support the overall safety and security for all SOC systems.
- Execute Quality Assurance activities according to the QA Plan and in collaboration with the Mission Project Manager
- Conduct assessments and evaluations through independent analysis to verify compliance to established standards.
- Develop written reports of findings; raise unresolved issues to appropriate management levels.
- Provide periodic end user training
- Revise QA practices and procedures as appropriate.
- Collaborates with NASA, the development and operations teams, international partners, observatory contractor to support the effective operation of a mission wide quality assurance process.
- Knowledge of NASA’s safety and mission assurance practices is highly desirable
