The Mid-Level Enterprise Monitoring Systems Engineer will support a team of application monitoring engineers and serve as technical lead for the US Census Enterprise Operations and Management branch. The candidate will participate in the deployment, onboarding, managing and O&M of the Enterprise IT infrastructure, system and application health and performance systems. S/He is responsible for the effective and efficient operational support of all monitoring tools used to support the mission. The candidate will support the Enterprise Operations Center by providing in-depth health and performance analysis as required. S/He will interact daily with client counterparts, supervisors and technical staff on project matters within the area of responsibility. Must work well with general guidance and generate competent technical input for operations type documentation. Must have excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills to deal with multiple contractors and government stakeholders. Must have worked in large enterprise type environments. Responsibilities: Provide expert knowledge, support and guidance to business and technology teams and facilitate the collaborative support of system and application performance based software solutions Recommend improvements to enhance information system operational availability, reliability, performance, etc. Assist in the establishment of processes, templates, knowledge base articles and tools required to support the Enterprise Operations Center (EOC) Maintain relevant service delivery catalogs and associated baselines Provide expertise in business process and analytical modeling concepts, techniques, and tools Qualifications: Required Skills: 2+ years of experience with a Bachelors in Computer Science or related field In lieu of degree, a combination of education and 5-8 years of demonstrated hands on experience Progressive experience with enterprise health & performance monitoring in an mid-level setting (1000+ CI's) Infrastructure and application support experience Excellent oral and written communication skills required Ability to support executive management incident debriefs and root cause analysis report Preferred Skills: ITIL v3 certification and/or formal training in ITIL/ITSM. SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP - NPM/SAM) One or more Splunk certifications: Power User, Admin, Architect or Developer Any Microsoft, Red Hat or Amazon certifications Any SEIM, MoM, System & Network Management certifications Comfortable in a fast paced work environment Hands-on-Exposure: Advanced knowledge and usage of SolarWinds, AppDynamics, Splunk Maintain and administer enterprise services, security protection mechanisms, automation scripts or system maintenance/monitoring automation to improve uptime and reduce support Demonstrated knowledge of Amazon Web Services (Public and GovCloud) Advanced technical knowledge of the latest Microsoft and Red Hat operating systems Demonstrated experience with virtualization platforms (eg VMware, Hyper-V, OpenShift & Oracle) Knowledge of government security policies and general vulnerabilities management Multi-platform scripting abilities (eg PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.) Hands on experience with tools like Ansible, Puppet or other similar CM type tools are a plus Soft Skills and Abilities: Organizational Skills: Follows tasks to their logical conclusion and makes sure that everything has been done to the right standard. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, elected officials, executive leadership, senior management, users, vendors and subcontractor personnel Problem Solving: Ability to analyze problems and determine root cause, generating alternatives, evaluating and selecting alternatives and implementing solutions Results Oriented: Able to drive things forward regardless of personal interest in the task Security Requirements: Candidate must be a US Citizen and able to pass a Public Trust Assessment
