Overview Peraton is seeking Mid-Level Software Safety Engineers to support our Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) customer in Dahlgren, VA. These will be multiple positions for a pending program award. You will be part of a team providing risk assessments for cutting-edge weapon systems such as the electromagnetic railgun and directed energy weapons, and in-service weapon related systems. Your work will involve solving complex challenges by applying system safety engineering and project management skills for the development, test and evaluation, analysis, systems engineering, and integration of naval combat and weapon systems. Your tasking will include studies, analyses and investigations to determine the potential for mishap or programmatic safety risk for the program throughout all lifecycle phases. Responsibilities What you will do Develop, refine and update System Safety Program Plans for software intensive systems Conduct hazard analysis, risk assessments and software safety requirements and analysis Prepare and coordinate system safety presentations for review boards such as the Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board Apply software engineering to program development, modeling, and simulation Qualifications You would be a great fit if You have a (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, or other technical discipline You have 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering applied to program development, modeling, and simulation; without a degree, 11+ years of related software engineering experience is required You have 2+ years of qualified experience as a Software/System Safety Engineer performing tasks focused on the development of system safety analysis, software safety analysis, software safety testing, risk assessment, software safety requirements and safety analysis by identifying, documenting, and tracking resolutions of software safety anomalies. You can perform in peer-review analysis of code written in programming languages, such as C++ and C#. You have working experience in coordinating, developing, and executing comprehensive technical data packages (TDP's), Safety Assessment Reports, and System Requirement Hazard Analysis. You have experience in the development and coordination of presentations to support the Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board and the Software Systems Safety Technical Review Panel. You have a current Secret security clearance and can maintain the clearance.
