The primary responsibility of a faculty member in the Virginia Community College System shall be to provide quality instruction for the students. The major emphasis shall be on good teaching by working with students in classrooms, laboratories, individual conferences, and related activities-to help the student develop their interests and abilities to their fullest capacity to become a better person, a better worker, and a better citizen.Duties and ResponsibilitiesFull-time teaching faculty members are responsible for teaching various courses in the business. Courses are offered in traditional, hybrid, and distance learning formats. All faculty members must be available to teach day, evening, and weekend classes. *Participates in didactic and/or clinical instruction *Correlates clinical education with didactic education: assists and instructs students in clinical procedures, observes students at each clinical assignment for general ability and demeanor, instruct and examine students in radiotherapy procedures, coordinate clinical material with other staff instructors regarding implementation of the procedures, coordinates class material with clinical objectives and confers with the didactic instructor regarding implementation of procedures, provides tutoring sessions as needed, provides syllabus to students, provides input into development of course syllabi: develop course goals and objectives, outline of course material, lesson plans and clinical rotation schedules, cooperates with the Program Director in periodic review and revision of clinical course materials, keeps Program Director abreast of clinical revisions *Evaluation of student progress *Coordinates clinical education and evaluates its effectiveness: tests students in selected procedure competency areas as designated in course objectives, tests students in selected category competency areas as designated in course objectives, evaluates students in psychomotor, cognitive and affective domains, confers with students formally for rotation and final evaluations of clinical progress, reports progress of students to Program Director, reviews all staff evaluation forms with students *Participates in the assessment process *Supports the Program Director to help assure effective program operation *Provides input to the Master Plan of Education: Attends faculty meetings, assists in evaluation of curriculum and program, acquisition of appropriate teaching materials, participates in developing program goals, maintains current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and student progress *Maintains student records, keeps accurate records of student progress, grades, etc., collects all staff evaluation forms, maintains all procedure and category competency forms and grades, maintains all clinical instructor evaluations of students, files all competency forms in student folders, keeps accurate attendance records *Maintains current knowledge of the discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development *Continuing Education: Provides evidence of continuing education for Division files, maintains membership in professional organizations *Attends seminars and classes to keep abreast of current trends in imaging and radiotherapy education, maintains clinical competency on a personal basis, maintains proper credentials Faculty members also serve as faculty advisers, serve on division/campus/college committees and participate in curriculum development. The position is available for one academic year, with performance-based yearly contract renewals, beginning the 2019-2020 academic year. This is an entry-level appointment with a normal teaching load of 15 credits per semester.Minimum qualifications and previous experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats. Research experience in an academic or professional setting. Experience in teaching statistics classes. Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency. Coursework in a variety of business disciplines. Three years of relevant work experience in business administration and/or management.
