  • Basic Eligibility Requirements: Soc Sci Prog Spec(Child Interview Specialist)
    To be minimally eligible for the Soc Sci Prog Spec(Child Interview Specialist) position you must possess one of the following:
    Experience: Possess four (4) years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that you have acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field (Appropriate experience for this position will be conducting Forensic Interviews of children, special needs adults, and children who become adults while in the forensic interview process); OR
    Education: Possess a degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position; OR
    Combination of Education and Experience: Possess a combination of education and experience that provided you with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts submitted with your application.

    Qualification Requirements: GS-13
    You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
    1. Possess a minimum of 1,000 hours of forensic interview experience of children who have experienced physical and/or sexual abuse and/or are victims or witnesses of a crime; AND
    2. Possess experience conducting forensic interviews in high profile, sensitive law enforcement and/or macro cases that involve numerous children and/or significant cases where child victims and/or witnesses are severely traumatized; AND
    3. Possess experience providing training and guidance to various law enforcement personnel concerning the most appropriate and effective methods for interviewing children who are victims of and/or witnesses of crime.

    National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.     Salary: The salary range indicated in this announcement will be adjusted to include locality payment for selected duty location. General Schedule locality pay tables may be found under Salaries & Wages.
