  • For GS-7:
    Possess at least one year of graduate level of education or superior academic achievement S.A.A. (S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.
    (1) Class standing--Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses.
    (2) Grade-point average (G.P.A.)--Applicants must have a grade-point average of: 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. NOTE: A bachelor's degree and superior academic achievement: Superior academic is 1). Class Standing; (2) Grade-point average (G.P.A) 3.0 or higher;
    (3) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society -- Applicants can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies. These honor societies are listed by the Association of College Honor Societies - http://www.achsnatl.org/ and agencies considering eligibility based on any society not included in the following list must ensure that the honor society meets the minimum requirements of the Association of College Honor Societies. Membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision. A bachelor's degree and superior academic achievement: Superior academic is (1). Class Standing; (2) Grade-point average (G.P.A) 3.0 or higher; (3).Membership in a national scholastic honor society. A transcript must be submitted if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education. Applications submitted without this information will not be considered. (CONFERRED/AWARDED UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR
    Possess at least one full year of graduate level study, or possess a master's or higher degree, e.g., LL.B., J.D., LL.M., Ph.D., in a field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. A transcript must be submitted if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education. Applications submitted without this information will not be considered.     Possess at least one year of work experience in information technology that shows all four (4) of the following competencies:
    1) Attention to Detail -thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
    2) Customer Service - work with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
    3) Oral Communication - expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
    4) Problem Solving - identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. This experience is equivalent to the GS-5 level in federal service. This experience is equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the GS-2210 series.

    IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.     Physical Requirements: Some work may require walking and standing in conjunction with travel and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the work site. The work may require lifting and carrying computer equipment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. The employee may occasionally be exposed to uncomfortable conditions in such places as computer rooms and telecommunications closets. The work may take place in clinical treatment areas.

    Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. VA may offer newly-appointed Federal employee's credit for their job-related non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
