The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of a Mobile Equipment Metal Mechanic without more than normal supervision.
Physical Effort: Moderates lifting (15-44 lbs). Moderate carrying (15-44 lbs). Reaching above shoulder. Use of fingers. Both hands required. Hours of walking are 2 hours/day. Hours of standing are 6 hours/day. Hours of repeated bending are 8 hours/day. Climbing, use of legs and arms. Both legs required. Both eyes required. Depth perception. Ability to distinguish basic colors. Hearing (aid permitted). If it can be otherwise accommodated, a specific physical condition or impairment will not automatically disqualify a candidate.
Working Conditions: Outside and inside (other than normal commuting). Excessive heat. Excessive cold. Dust. Solvents. Electrical energy. Slippery or uneven walking surface. Working around machinery with moving parts.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of metal body construction.
2. Knowledge of welding techniques.
3. Ability to determine extent of damage and most economical method of repair.
4. Skill in using a variety of tools and attachments to remove, fabricate and reshape parts.
5. Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
6. Knowledge of vehicle radiator components.
7. Knowledge of painting/finishing techniques.
8. Knowledge of glass removal, cutting and installation techniques.
9. Knowledge of vehicle upholstery techniques.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
