  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Incumbent must pass a pre-employment physical examination as well as an annual physical examination.
  • As a precondition and continuing condition of employment, the incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis testing under the Drug Abuse Testing Program IAW AR 600-85.
  • This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively; therefore the position is designated key.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
  • This position will require the incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid local driver?s license and a Government Operators License.
  • This position requires the incumbent to carry firearms or other weapons authorized for their specific jurisdictions and required to qualify with assigned weapons on a semi- annual basis, to demonstrate skill/proficiency in their use.
  • The incumbent is required to wear the DASG uniform IAW AR190-56 and maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
  • This position requires the incumbent will be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays on various shifts in accordance with assigned schedule.
  • Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • This position requires the incumbent must graduate from the Joint Department of the Army Security Guard Academy, Ft. Belvoir, VA.
  • This position requires the incumbent to undergo training in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid.
  • This position requires the incumbent to submit to and pass a Physical Agility Test annually IAW AR 190-56.
  • This position requires the incumbent must qualify and remain qualified with the Individual Reliability Program (AR 190-56).
  • This is a key designated position that cannot be vacated during a national emergency or disaster without seriously impairing the capability of the parent organization to function effectively.

    In order to qualify, you must meet the education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.     To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Respond to emergency calls and conducts preliminary investigations. Operate communication network maintaining communications with patrol units, and emergency situations. Assure the timely accomplishment of security related inspection work. Perform roving security patrol and traffic control duties.

    This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

    Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

    • Physical Security
    • Security Enforcement
    • Security Equipment Operation


    Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).

    • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
    • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
    • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
    • Direct deposit of pay is required.
    • Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
