Senior Back End Software Engineer Our Enterprise Customer Intelligence (ECI) team is building the next generation of real-time, data-driven services that power machine-learning capabilities for our digital products. These services provide insights that drive critical decisions at Capital One. We are looking for software engineers who are strong with fundamentals and have a proven curiosity to explore and tinker with new technology. Our ECI team is still growing as we build out the foundational technology and features. When a scammer fills out an online credit card app with someone else's information, are there any traits to recognize that it is not a genuine application? ECI has found some! We capture immense amounts of data from customer interactions with our sites and apps, then run analytics on the data to improve user experience, fight fraud, and assist Capital One customers through our AI agent, ENO. Responsibilities: Collaborate with architects, engineers, data scientists, and analysts to implement enhancements and new applications Work as part of a dynamic team throughout the software development life cycle Develop code to meet story acceptance criteria Collaborate with product and engineering leadership on delivery strategy, roadmaps, and timelines Technically mentor less experienced engineers Raise the bar for technical excellence and lead by example Conduct design and code review to ensure compliance with standards and expected quality Help recruit talented engineers Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or military experience At least 6 years of application development experience At least 3 years of experience with JVM languages At least 2 years of experience with version control systems At least 2 years of experience with writing software leveraging automated testing and TDD practices At least 2 year of distributed systems experience Preferred Qualifications: Experience working on complex projects with multiple engineering team members Exposure to Java performance tuning and monitoring Experience working with Spring frameworks Experience working with a functional programming language like Scala Experience in scripting languages (python, Perl, or ruby) Experience building systems leveraging a streaming architecture Experience with Ansible / Terraform Experience with Amazon web services (AWS) Experience working with CICD pipeline (CircleCI, Jenkins, or equivalent) Experience in publish/subscribe queuing systems or streaming technologies (Kafka, MQ-Series, SQS, Spark, Flink, Storm, or equivalent) Experience with microservices architecture (design and implementation) Experience or knowledge with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd) Open source contributions At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position
