Overview We are seeking a JPPS Ground Systems Engineer in Greenbelt, MD for our support of the Omnibus Multidiscipline Engineering Services II (OMES-II) contract with NASA at Peraton. Responsibilities What you'll do Oversee the development, installation, integration and testing of new hardware and software with focus on the science data processing within the JPSS ground system Support the engineering design of a Telemetry and Command Ground System that supports the science data Provide oversight of the software development, integration and test of a Telemetry and Command (T&C) Ground System, particularly the stored mission data (Science Data) Support the flight software database and table management Support the analysis of the data stream as received from the spacecraft Basic understanding of Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) data formats Support software reviews conducted by the developers. Analyze dropped data packets for determining error sources and minimizing effects on science data processing. Qualifications You'd be a great fit if You have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and at least 5+ years of relevant experience. You have had 3+ years of experience with using and understanding of basic system engineering concepts: Design Definition Requirements Development Concept of Operations Verification Planning 3+ years of experience in the design and development of ground systems with emphasis on: Communications and test Spacecraft command, control, and communication Front-end parsing and packaging of science data Analysis of frame and package drops It would be even better if you Experience with the design and development of NASA ground systems Task management experience Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Demonstrated ability to lead and interact with distributed team members and different corporate cultures Self-starter and good organizer Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills What you'll get An immediately-vested 401(K) with employer matching.
