About the Role The ideal candidate for this role is a CIO-caliber technology leader with direct experience working as an advisor to private equity clients. This Director role is a full-time consultant supporting the Office of the CIO group within the CBIZ CMF team, with the primary responsibility being to lead delivery teams in the execution of engagements related to M&A and CIO advisory technology leadership, ERP consulting, and IT Diligence. Additionally, this role will be part of the leadership team for our growing Office of the CIO practice - including activities such as business development, practice development, and resource sourcing and performance management. Your primary clients will include private equity funds and the C-level leadership teams of middle-market portfolio companies. You will be a part of the leadership team for a fast-growing and entrepreneurial group, and will be expected to be a self-starter and visionary that is also willing to get their hands dirty when necessary. Essential Functions and Primary Duties Selling and leading technology related projects serving clients across industries, bringing broad sector experience to bear to understand operating models, business processes, and best practices across the engagement types outlined above Lead project teams to successfully deliver multiple concurrent engagements for our clients from project startup through deliverable presentation - consistently exceeding client expectations Possess executive presence with senior private equity leaders and C-level clients Take advantage of existing networks within consulting, industry, and technology firms to source business development leads Lead full business development lifecycle efforts from lead qualification through project scoping and contracting Utilize project management best practices to ensure budgets are estimated accurately and tracked against, margins are realized, and billing and collections standards are adhered to Identify Office of the CIO talent, contributing to the human capital growth of the practice and providing mentorship and guidance to grow junior resources Act as an internal practice development leader to standardize and continuously improve methodologies, tools, and related delivery capabilities Preferred Qualifications Significant direct experience in working with private equity funds required, Big 4 or similar consulting background preferred Deep cross-industry consulting experience from both an IT and business process perspective including several of the following key sectors: manufacturing and distribution, healthcare, technology, business services, or retail/consumer products Diverse consulting experience - comfort in abstract / new situations or knowledge domains Direct experience leading an IT organization with responsibility for operations and enterprise-level architecture, or extensive experience consulting to IT leadership across the technology stack Experience in IT carve-out and merger integration situations Knowledge across both middle market technology infrastructure and ERP solutions preferred Strong project management methodology background, including the ability to scope engagements, define work breakdown structures and associated resource needs, manage client expectations, track risk and issues to delivery, and engage in strategic planning and analysis with senior client stakeholders Bachelor's degree in related discipline (eg Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other Information Technology-related) or business degree with significant IT industry expertise Functional expertise in IT operations preferred Ability to travel 50% Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree required in Technology-related field or business degree with appropriate IT job experience 8 years of experience in IT or technology consulting related field 6 years of supervisory experience Relevant IT certifications preferred Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization, both internally and externally Proficient use of applicable technology Must be able to travel based on business needs (up to 60%)
