Job Announcement

This position is located in the Closed Circuit Television Inspection (CCTV) Section of the Projects and Assets Branch of Wastewater Collection Division. Operates and maintains a CCTV sewer inspection unit and the vehicle used to transport the unit. Records observations of both new and existing sanitary sewers on video media and laptop computer and transfers data to an asset management system. Under general supervision, leads the sewer inspection crew as a working crew leader. Troubleshoots and repairs electrical and mechanical CCTV equipment failures. Maintains a daily record of crew activities and work site information. Prepares daily and monthly reports. While performing the job duties, this position has daily contact with residents and/or contractors. Performs related duties as required.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, or a GED issued by a state department of education or equivalent including technical/trade school training and two years of experience as an instrumentation technician.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience performing wastewater collection system inspection and maintenance. Working knowledge of our asset management system EAM and Fairfax Counties GIS and other associated software used in CCTV data collection. Experience using a Voltage Multi-meter and reading wiring diagrams.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Must have and maintain a valid motor vehicle driver's license. Ability to obtain Pipe Assessment Certification Program (PACP) and Manhole Assessment Certification Program (MACP) within three months of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
With or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to distinguish different color wiring. Subject to working in adverse weather conditions and may be exposed to raw waste. Must be able to stoop and stand for extended periods of time and must be able to lift/slide up to 90 pounds with assistance. May be required to enter permitted confined space, using OSHA, certified non-entry retrieval system, which includes a safety harness with a weight restriction of 310 pounds.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Subject to 24-hour call back and must, therefore, be able to work emergency overtime. Subject to working in adverse weather condition and may be exposed to raw waste. The appointee to the position will be required to complete a criminal background, driving record check, and pre-employment physical to the satisfaction of the employer prior to appointment.
