The Kennedy Center is the nation's busiest performing arts center, hosting approximately 2,000 performances each year for audiences numbering more than 2 million. Our media brand Digital Stage extends the Kennedy Center's mission to your screens with on-demand access to world class, diverse performing arts from our physical stages and beyond.

We are seeking a Video Producer/Editor to develop and create engaging multimedia content that entertains, informs, and inspires our viewers.

This position will also assist in the production and delivery of digital assets for flagship Kennedy Center offerings, such as the Kennedy Center Honors and Twain Prize.

Duties and Responsibilities:

40% Produce, shoot, and edit exceptional multimedia content. Masterfully capture performances and craft compelling visual stories related to the performing arts.

20% Collaborate with internal and external clients on content ideas and product execution and management. Schedule and direct shooters and editors. Clearly communicate the vision, shot lists, project goals, narrative scope, and time frame for each product.

10% Perform camera operation, multi-camera direction, and post-production for live programming including Millennium Stage and other video initiatives.

10% Manage and maintain multimedia hardware, software, and equipment. Capture, organize, archive, and distribute multimedia content.

10% Remain abreast of changing technologies, software, standards, and best practices. Train other staff in skills and techniques. Make recommendations for new equipment purchases.

10% Leverage social media and other influencers for content distribution and engagement.

Key Qualifications:
  • You have a Bachelor's degree in film, television or multimedia production and/or three years of qualifying experience.
  • You love using a camera and cinematic tools to tell stories.
  • You possess advanced knowledge of video production.
  • You enjoy music and the performing arts.
  • You like to maintain an organized production environment; each tool in your sphere is well cared for and has its place.
  • You have excellent writing skills and attention to detail.
  • You know how to use Adobe Premiere and other multimedia software.
  • You are comfortable juggling multiple projects at once, and are able to problem-solve under time pressure.
  • You make contingency plans for your contingency plans.
  • You are adept at using social media -- i.e. YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • You are simultaneously confident in your own artistic abilities and love collaborating.
  • You are always learning, and enjoy sharing your knowledge with others.


Physical Demands:

Carrying, loading/unloading, setup and strike of audio and video equipment for on location and studio captures. Movement of editing suite equipment, including but not limited to computers, screens, consoles

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate in person and on the telephone. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel in order to operate computer keyboard, office equipment, and other essential tasks. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. This position infrequently lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is studio and performing arts industry standards for office, editing and performance.
