Job Announcement

Manages and oversees the Fire and Rescue Department's Data and Analytics Program. Supervises a team of analysts that provide analytical expertise to the organization. Supervises, coordinates, plans, and develops agency data analysis and preparation functions. Proposes and advises on technological solutions that use data to improve organizational efficiency, collaboration, and support the mission. Oversees the performance of all statistical analysis performed in the agency. Serves as the agency's expert in the field of data analytics to include providing direction and guidance for analysts in how to use the data warehouse, querying methods and data modeling. Prepares timelines and project plans to keep staff on target with milestones and programmatic objectives. Produces diagrams and documentation and provides guidance to staff for documentation of databases, schema, architecture and business process flow. Engages personnel from the agency to remove data silos, support internal data sharing. Develops business requirements associated with data and information needs, metrics, reporting, and forecasting. Manages the agency's business intelligence initiatives. Supports and provides technical expertise and guidance for all data analysis needed as part of the Center for Public Safety Excellence accreditation process. Works with Department of Information Technology Public Safety, e-Government, and GIS divisions and other county agencies on inter-agency projects. Performs statistical analysis to identify patterns based on aggregate data to find risks or opportunities, as well as make performance change recommendations. Assures timely response to requests for reports, data and information. Supports and/or serves on special committees, commissions, panels and fulfills Board of Supervisors, executive and other requests for analysis and support for investigations. Stays abreast of both IT and data analytics trends, particularly in the fire and rescue arena. Performs other duties as assigned.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to possession of a bachelor's degree in computer information systems, business administration, or related field; plus five years of experience in information systems and process redesign, managing and implementing all phases of the systems development life cycle, including at least one year of supervisory experience.
