  • In order to qualify for a Training Specialist at the GS-1712-12 level you must, demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: participate in the development of training programs to meet organizational needs; analyze course evaluation data to recommend changes to existing training programs; facilitate seminars and training sessions; develop training policies and procedures and evaluate instructional methods.

    In order to qualify for a Training Specialist at the GS-1712-13 level you must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: develop and evaluate training/educational programs; works with program staff to design, develop, and coordinate course curriculum tailored client needs; develop standards for use in evaluating training programs; facilitate seminars and training sessions; provide authoritative guidance on organization training policies and programs; and conduct surveys to evaluate program effectiveness.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
