TITLE: Program Manager, College Park Scholars–Life Sciences CATEGORY: Exempt Staff, 12 months, full-time

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Program Manager, College Park Scholars–Life Sciences (CPS–LS), is a full-time, 12-month position that serves as the assistant director for this two-year, undergraduate, living-learning program (https://scholars.umd.edu/programs/ls) of about 200 freshmen and sophomores. The Program Manager will maintain a consistent presence in the CPS–LS office to assist the Director, students, and program faculty; provide logistical and organizational support for program events and activities, including service projects, local trips, and travel–study programs; and is also responsible for financial aspects of the program related to supporting these activities. Responsibilities also include teaching UNIV100, the freshman orientation course, overseeing the second-year practicum and teaching the practicum course. The Program Manager will represent the program at Life Sciences, Scholars and college/university sponsored admissions and recruitment programs, summer orientation sessions, and other events as needed. Additionally, the Program Manager will work with the Director to plan and implement program colloquia, coordinate faculty and guest speakers and assist with grading. The Program Manager will serve as a liaison to CPS administrative and Resident Life staff, and CMNS administrators. Some evening and weekend work and domestic and international travel are required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree required. At least one year (full time equivalent) work experience in areas such as administrative support, academic advising, undergraduate student services, student development, higher education, living-learning programs, residence life or college campus experience is required. Excellent writing, oral presentation, and computer skills are required. Strong interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and ability to communicate in person and via email with prospective students, parents, faculty and staff are required. Prior education in a life sciences area and/or work experience in the life sciences or with college students in STEM fields is desired but not required.
