Summary

Ensures client problem solving, translating business requirements, scoping deliverables, implementing lean operational processes, and making strategic recommendations for operational improvement, including formal operating roadmaps and implementation plans, formalizing innovations in next-generation analytics services, and online and offline integrated data products. Works with data science team leadership for the effective use of information assets and marketing deployment. Supports the evolution to cloud infrastructure that will enable optimized consumer experiences and empower advanced analytics/artificial intelligence (A.I.) by improving data accessibility and delivery.

Responsibilities
  1. Provides informal hands-on leadership guidance to a world-class data sciences and marketing team and related vendors.
  2. Works on highly complex problems in a matrix enterprise where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.
  3. Formalizes processes for capturing business requirements from internal and external stakeholders, including translation to technical requirements and project plans.
  4. Provides consultative support to internal clients, data team, and other internal constituents.
  5. Presents roadmaps, operating plans, results, and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
  6. Formalizes data curation, sharing recommendations, and data governance documentation in context of AARP policies, provider requests, privacy, and governance best practices. Manages collaborations and communications with internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Manages multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  8. Develops formal plans for vendor mix optimization, including evaluation and ranking of new vendors for go/no-go decisions and integration into environment.
  9. Formalizes vendor management, including daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly process design.
  10. Formalizes vendor negotiations, contract management, and communications with finance, legal, and procurement teams.
  11. Ensures data science solution documentation and training material development, including maximizing internal training resources and evaluating external training/certification options.


Requirements

Completion of a Bachelor's of Science or Business Administration degree and 10+ years of operating and client-facing experience in an agency, marketing services provider, data science, or sophisticated marketing operation.

Critical thinking and problem solving -- understands and helps to define the business problem, provide consultative recommendations on solutions, and work with the data and analytic team to design elegant solutions.

Extensive knowledge of data, analytics, cloud, and digital marketing operations.

Experience in multi-channel marketing campaigns, measurement, reporting, test design, and analyses.

Proficiency in the use of online/offline data for marketing and analytics, infrastructure, and processes required to manage and mobilize data for audience purposes. Working knowledge of industry vendors.

Demonstrates excellent planning and management skills, as well as communication techniques and strategies.

Ability to develop crisp presentations and project plans and to manage strategic projects across internal teams and clients. Ability to motivate people to action.

Ability to build trust and to achieve results through others in a matrix environment.

Solid presentation skills and ability to create content in Power Point, Word, and Excel. Able to articulate complex insights and interpretations in high level terms to non-technical colleagues, clients, and vendors.

Must be a self-starter with ability to take new work assignments with little supervision.

Expertise in designing and implementing operational roadmaps and plans.

Demonstrated success and effectiveness working in a time-critical and fast-paced environment.

Key personal traits include smart, curious, sense of urgency, committed to vision, passionate, achiever, and fun/pleasant.

Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate the activities of, and work effectively with staff (without formal management responsibility), service providers, and outside resources at all levels.
