Summary

The Direct Response Analyst implements and provides direction for the implementation of direct response and development fundraising and marketing activities utilizing direct mail, email, web, advertising, and in-bound toll-free number giving vehicles to enable AARP and AARP Foundation to support its advocacy/charitable programs throughout the country. Coordinates with AARP and AARP Foundation stakeholders to fully integrate and maximize fundraising throughout the organization. This position reports to the Manager, Direct Response Fundraising.

Responsibilities

1. Implements direct response plans and strategies for the AARP's Advocacy program/AARP Foundation Charitable program to secure financial gifts, and to ensure financial and dashboard goals are met.

2. Manages day-to-day relationships with external vendors to implement multi-channel direct response and development marketing programs relative to print production, email launches, data and postal needs.

3. Oversees adherence to full mail and email campaign production schedules. Coordinates and leads production calls and meetings that include both internal and external partners.

4. Develops and implements processes and procedures for the implementation of direct response fundraising campaigns and print production quality control.

5. Coordinates with Development Operations to set up and implement all back-end processing (coding, caging and cashiering, fulfillment) relative to all direct mail and Appeals, Acquisition, Cultivation, Acknowledgements and Engagement work.

6. Serves as team lead for print, mail and data production implementation as well as email execution. Provides clear direction on print and production. Makes recommendations on the implementation of direct response campaigns including design, and package configuration recommendations to achieve best cost efficiencies that meet program creative and strategic objectives.

7. Ensures Legal, Brand, and overall messaging are correct in all new and repeat artwork.

8. Establishes and ensures adherence to all quality control steps in executing fundraising and marketing campaigns.

9. Collaborates with internal partners throughout the organization to ensure coordinated efforts/campaigns are executed for the benefit of the Association and donor preference, including but not limited to mail-planning calendaring, Foundation marketing/communications, and Foundation Direct Response and Advocacy resources.

10. Adhere to all applicable laws and follow ethical standards for charitable giving, as defined by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

11. Manages multi-departmental schedules for direct response and development programs (mail & email).

Requirements

Completion of a Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years related experience in development and/or direct response fundraising (mail and/or Internet); or an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position.

Proven track record in managing and implementing large, complex direct mail, Internet, and/or phone-based programs to support charitable or advocacy programs.

Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy required.

Experience reviewing/writing fundraising copy and working with vendors to produce fundraising materials.

Experience with computer, database, and spreadsheet programs.

Ability to interact and communicate effectively with vendors, internal customers, and the general public.

Experience in working in a large complex environment.
