    This position may be filled as a competitive temporary promotion opportunity not to exceed (NTE) 09/26/2020 by a current career or career-conditional Department of Commerce employee. This temporary promotion may be extended, terminated earlier, or made permanent at management's discretion. At the conclusion of the temporary promotion, the employee will return to their position of record.

    This position may be filled as a term appointment, initial appointment is not to exceed (NTE) 09/26/2020. This appointment may be extended 2 additional years at management’s discretion.

    A probationary period may be required.

    This position is ELIGIBLE for telework; additional criteria will be required (e.g., supervisory approval).

    This is a NON-BARGAINING unit position.

    Relocation expenses may be paid.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

    For the GG-11, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level.

    Specialized experience includes: producing high quality executive-level correspondence by editing grammar and style, restructuring logical content, and confirming that content conforms to approved requirements; directing correspondence through the concurrence process to appropriate offices in a timely manner; ensuring official requirements are applied throughout the controlling and reviewing process; monitoring priority correspondence; writing official correspondence; editing a variety of materials written by others; controlling, reviewing and responding to official executive correspondence; creating and maintaining files of scanned images; and utilizing Web-based applications to receive and send documents and creating status reports.

    Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
