    Basic Requirement:

    GS-0401:
    Degree: Biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
    OR
    Combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

    In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below.

    Specialized Experience Requirement:

    For the GS-14: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as the following: In a developmental/training capacity, provided advice and consultation to the Director and Deputy Directors on critical problems pertaining to Fire and Aviation Management programs. Assisted with problems that are straight forward, requiring novel concepts and approaches of a multi-disciplinary nature. Developed, coordinated, and shared informational material, scientific and technical advice, and assistance within the program communities.

    For the GS-15: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as the following: Serve as a reliable source of information for a broad spectrum of issues pertaining to fire ecology and fuels, fire prevention, State cooperative fire program, emergency management, federal excess property, international cooperation and fire adapted communities and programs. Provide technical advice and consultation in both formal and informal settings through a broad expanse of personal contacts from various program communities, other agencies and with professional staff. Serve as primary Landscapes and Partnerships point of contact and provided leadership in formulating and establishing the fuels program of work and budget.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
