  • For the GS-11 level:You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 or GS-10 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: managing emergency situations and ensuring the health, safety and well-being of others; providing technical direction necessary for accomplishing the work of a unit; working with Federal, state, or local law enforcement agencies concerning investigations involving incidents of mutual interest; interrogating suspects and interviewing witnesses, in accordance with laws, regulations, and court decisions; serving as a field training officer with responsibility for providing on the job training to other officers; leading a team of officers on special assignments; preparing testimony for presentation in court.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    • This position is designated as an emergency position and the selected candidate will be considered and emergency employee and will be required to be available ready, willing, and able to report to duty under all circumstances, e.g., inclement weather, government closings and holidays, lapse in appropriations, non-emergency and emergency situations for operation 24 hours a day and 365 days per year coverage.
    • A one-year supervisory probationary period may be required upon selection/placement.
    • We are unable to pay relocation expenses.
    • Applicant may be required to travel for up to 12 weeks for initial training.
    • A newly appointed or reappointed employee may receive service credit for prior work experience or active duty uniformed service that otherwise would not be creditable for the purpose of determining his or her annual leave accrual rate. All creditable service must be directly related to the duties of the position being filled and decisions to allow for such credit must be finalized prior to the selectee's entrance on duty. Recipients will be determined on a case-by-case basis based on organizational need, specific case justification, and budget limitations.
