For over 24 years, the Office of International Medicine Programs (IMP) at the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) has cultivated global partnerships to create transformational mutual exchange in medical education, training, and research. IMP’s goal is to provide life-changing opportunities to build the capacity of other countries and share the latest advances in medicine and healthcare. As a pioneer in international medical education, training, and research, IMP has developed, coordinated, and completed over 150 projects in over 50 countries, touching the lives of more than 12,000 healthcare professionals, students, and patients around the globe.

This position is typically single-incumbent for a program and is generally the head of an academic program or initiative, reporting directly to senior leadership. This role will generally direct the administration of the program, will serve as an escalation for program questions from faculty, staff, and students, and will provide management for the program administration. Core responsibilities typically include community outreach and relationship building, academic advising, managing web presence and marketing efforts, creating program materials, managing course evaluations, developing and executing new programming, planning and executing events, managing the program budget, assisting with fellowship and grant opportunities, preparing and analyzing reports, and similar duties. Often this position can change policy and procedure, and they are tasked with outreach to other internal and external stakeholders in order to assist in maintaining standard operational efficiencies. This position does not typically have direct reports but often schedules, trains and supervises temporary staff or student workers, or leads other program staff. Typical duties often are administrative in nature but typically expand to effectively manage a department, or program but lack multiple direct staff subordinates.

Reporting directly to the Associate Dean, the Associate Program Director, IMP Business Development & Strategy will work with IMP Leadership and other SMHS stakeholders, supports business development opportunities including the creation of proposals, budgets, work plans, and other project management tools. The Associate Program Director will oversee high profile projects and strategic business initiatives from development through successful execution under the guidance of the Associate Dean for International Medicine and other SMHS leaders and stakeholders. The Associate Program Director also supports relationships with IMP internal and external stakeholders.

Other Duties Include:
• Conducts research to identify new markets and customer needs
• Identify business opportunities and lead partnerships from inception through full execution
• Drive increased revenue and profit margin to achieve IMP’s growth
• Expand and cultivate relationships with a variety of partners
• Prepare concept papers, capability statements, proposals, and budgets.
• Work with Associate Dean for International Medicine to identify IMPpriorities and strategically align work with those priorities; acts as a key thought partner, brainstorming and identifying solutions to challenges; provides communications support- drafting emails, reports, memos, presentations, internal and external communications.
• Support the development of annual goals for IMP ensuring alignment with IMP, SMHS, and GW priorities. Monitors progress of goals and prepares reports for IMP and SMHS leadership. 
• Maintain IMP’s alumni database
• Maintain IMP’s international activities database to track SMHS faculty international activities
• Serve as the primary point of contact at IMP for the Children’s National Global Health Initiative and coordinating collaborative activities and agreements
• Support the submission and renewal of adjunct faculty appointments for international colleagues
• Develop legal agreements for new and existing partnerships and serving as a liaison between the partner, OGC, and other internal stakeholders.
• Develop and distributing IMP e-newsletters, and relevant articles
• Manage IMP social media plan
• Develop and distributing e-cards for major holidays
• Work with SMHS leadership, responsible for all aspects of scientific summits from conception to implementation. 
• Track and report on outcomes of the Global Research Initiative and other SMHS international research activities. 
• Identify and support opportunities to strengthen and expand SMHSinternational research networks. 
• Support the development of research training programs for international participants as well as training platforms for SMHS students.
• Continuous improvement of IMP’s guidelines and procedures
• Review and update IMP relevant SOPs on a regular basis
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:  

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
