Time in grade: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade (e.g. one year at the GS-11 grade level for consideration for the GS-12 grade level.).
For the GS-12 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-11 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates 6 of the 8 following to successfully perform as a Records and Information Management Specialist:
- Experience with ability to communicate records requirements to various audiences including agency divisions and field offices
- Knowledge of records management laws, regulations, rules, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of principles and concepts of information governance of various phases of records and information management
- Experience in managing the records process in accordance with applicable NARA records schedules and Department requirements
- Experience in assisting with the content management framework that supports the entire life cycles of agency records whether they are electronic and/or hard copy
- Experience in assisting in conducting record inventories, identifying appropriate records disposition schedules, destroying records as scheduled, and transferring inactive records
- Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining privacy policies and procedures
- Experience in planning and conducting educational training sessions on Privacy Act requirements
