Status candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade level).

TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENTS: All Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible at either grade (must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted).

TYPING PROFICIENCY: In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirement, this position requires the skill of a qualified typist. You must be able to type at least 40 words per minute based on a timed 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

You may qualify at the GS-0203-06 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of full-time specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service performing duties such as: 1.) Providing human resources support and assistance; 2.) Prepares and examines personnel action requests (i.e. SF-52s) for completeness and adherence to procedural, and regulatory requirements as appropriate; completes SF-52 based on action being taken; 3.) Maintaining a filing system; 4.) Providing reception services for an office; and 5.) Uses automated systems to research or enter/process personnel/payroll data.

You may qualify at the GS-0203-07 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of full-time specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service performing duties such as: 1.) Providing administrative support and technical assistance in human resources functions of recruitment and staffing and pay administration (i.e. drafting vacancy announcements, reviewing resumes and assessing basic qualifications, setting pay, coding personnel actions); 2.) Utilizing automated systems to research or enter/process personnel/payroll data; 3.) Creating, updating, and editing a wide range of HR documents and reports; and 4.) Providing reception services for an office.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience
