    You do not need a degree to qualify for this position.

    We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:

    To qualify for the GS-11 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-09 level defined as providing support for litigation before courts and/or administrative tribunals including researching legal precedents, assisting in drafting briefs or other legal documents or submissions OR managing a variety of logistical tasks related to litigation, such as e-discovery and organizing case files - OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., in an academic discipline related to this position.

    To qualify for the GS-12 level, you need to have at least one year of full time experience equivalent to the GS-11 level defined as providing support for litigation before courts and/or administrative tribunals including researching legal precedents, assisting in drafting briefs or other legal documents or submissions, assisting in addressing discovery, including using electronic litigation software for discovery, and managing a variety of logistical tasks related to litigation, such as organizing case files.

    Your answers to the on-line assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:  1) Ability to research and interpret statutes, case law, legislative history, regulations, and/or policy; 2) Skill in written communication; 3) Ability to prepare court filings; 4) Ability to gather and/or analyze data related to legal issues; 5) Ability to review and synthesize case information; 6) Knowledge of record management procedures; 7) Skill in using electronic databases, such as Relativity, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) online, and Courtlink/PACER; 8) Skill in oral communication.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
