Requirements

Director, Student Systems - Georgetown University Information Services

The Director, Student Systems has responsibility for the management of the University's Student Systems. The systems support critical student management business functions across the university, including: admissions, enrollment, registration, add/drop, student records, degree audit and advising, financial aid, billing and accounts receivables, and the self-service web portals used by the students and faculty. The Director's duties include but are not limited to:
  • Provide technical and managerial leadership of the University Information Services (UIS) staff that directly support the student systems.
  • Work closely with the functional stakeholder community to elicit, document, and manage the implementation of emerging requirements.
  • Provide Project Leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with University UIS technology standards and standard system life cycle methods.
  • Execute Financial Management and Provide Status Reports.


The Director, Student Systems manages a team of approximately 10-12 developers, business analysts, and database administrators, managing workload, priorities and personnel development of the team.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or relevant field is preferred. Advanced academic study would be valued.
  • At least ten (10) years of relevant and progressive management experience.
  • Must have had a successful experience at a senior leadership level managing IT staff and business stakeholders.
  • Must have experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Develop and maintain a Student Systems roadmap and strategic plan.
  • Understanding and experience managing and developing system architectures and services on which contemporary student systems are built.
  • Must have experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience with project management techniques and toolsets.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and demonstrated successful experience in stakeholder management is required.


Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with the Banner student information system will be especially valued, as will experience and familiarity with the major components of student systems and business functions to include admissions, enrollment, registration, degree audits, course scheduling, etc. Experience with PL SQL, object oriented programming languages such as Java, and system security is also beneficial.
  • PMP certification valued but not required.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing change management programs would be advantageous to applicants.
