Requirements

The Business Office team of the Planning & Facilities Management (PFM) Department guides the PFM financial management and business operations. We have the primary responsibility of providing and maintaining the technological resources, human resource and personnel support, and fiscal support for the PFM staff and equipment. We seek a Construction Accounting Specialist to join the team, and help us further our goal to ensure the efficiency and optimal functionality of all departmental assets and resources.

Duties of the Accounting Specialist include but are not limited to:
  • Provides accounting and capital project administrative support to the Office of Design and Construction.
  • Assists project managers in completing WorkDay related tasks in support of capital project accounting.
  • Ensures or assists in ensuring that all capital project related documents are processed, logged, and filed; that invoices are accurate and promptly submitted for payment; that all contracting actions, including department generated invoices and transaction reports, are prepared by deadline; and that administrative requirements are handled in a timely and professional manner.


Qualifications
  • Requires some college with emphasis on accounting.
  • Minimum of two years in a position equal to the one described above, three years general work experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Must have advanced MS Excel skills to prepare analysis and reporting as required.
  • Ability to communicate well in written and oral formats
  • Ability to observe many details, identify inconsistencies and correct errors.
  • Ability to work effectively with others as a member of a team.
  • Ability to represent the University in a professional manner.


Preferred qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred with specific construction accounting experience
  • Exposure to WorkDay helpful
